License to Save Lives Tennessee

February 17, 2026

Hundreds of Tennessee youth rallied at the State Capitol in Nashville on February 17, 2026, urging lawmakers to pass a tobacco retail licensing law and strengthen enforcement of regulations to prevent tobacco sales to kids.

With their message, “License to Save Lives,” students met with legislators and held a press conference to call for action. Tennessee is one of just nine states that don’t require stores to have a license to sell tobacco products.

We applaud these young leaders for speaking up and urge lawmakers to listen. We appreciate the support from our partners at Prevention Alliance of Tennessee, the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association.

Protect Kentucky's Kids Youth Advocacy Day

February 18, 2026

More than 100 young advocates from across Kentucky came together for the Protect Kentucky's Kids Youth Advocacy Day on February 18, 2026. These young leaders met with legislators to urge support for tobacco prevention funding and to implement, establish regulations and enforce the state’s new tobacco retail license law.

To kick off the day, our National Youth Ambassador Ksenia Miller testified before the Senate Health Services Committee in support of dedicating Juul settlement funds to tobacco prevention programs. We’re thrilled the committee passed the bill unanimously! We’re proud of these young leaders for showing up and advocating for healthier communities.

We thank our partners from the American Lung Association and American Heart Association for their support.

Incorruptible.US Capitol Hill Visit

February 10, 2026

This month, high school students Karyl Luarca and Darlene Langomas from New Jersey’s Incorruptible.US traveled to Washington, DC, for the annual CADCA meeting to learn more about tobacco prevention and cessation policy and funding efforts.

As New Jersey’s Youth Tobacco Action Group representatives, they met with staff from the offices of their U.S. senators, Cory Booker and Andy Kim, to seek their support for funding for tobacco prevention programs such as Incorruptible.US.

Because of leadership and advocacy of people like Karyl and Darlene, funding has been secured for this year’s budget year for critical public health programs.

Tobacco-Free Day

February 17, 2026 | American Lung Association West Virginia

On February 17, 2026, hundreds of young advocates from across West Virginia rallied near the state Capitol in Charleston urging lawmakers to pass House Bill 5108, which would allocate a portion of interest from the state's Rainy Day B fund towards tobacco prevention efforts.

The fund would support programs such as the tobacco quit line and peer-to-peer education programs. ALA WV's Tobacco-Free Day also included Advocacy 101 trainings, youth panel, and more.

The event was hosted by the American Lung Association West Virginia with partnership from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

Washington State Lobby Day

January 26, 2026 | Youth Tobacco Prevention Washington

On Monday, January 26, dozens of Washington middle and high schoolers headed to Olympia for a day of advocacy to ask their lawmakers to vote yes to SB 6129 and HB 2382 that will raise the cigarette tax by $2. They also underscored the importance of ending the sale of flavored tobacco.

By early afternoon, the students and staff had met with more than 35 elected officials, including representatives from the bill sponsors leading the effort to raise the tax, Senator June Robinson and Representative Lisa Parshley.

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Youth Ambassador Suhani Singh also testified on the House bill hearing to increase the cigarette tax. She shared her personal experiences of how pervasive youth vaping is at her school and how her best friend developed a nicotine addiction from flavored tobacco. She urged them to vote yes on the bill.
